Description
Magnesium oxide is a typical alkaline earth metal oxide, chemical formula MgO. White powder, melting point 2852 ℃, boiling point 3600 ℃, the relative density of 3.58 (25 ℃). It is soluble in acid and ammonium salt solution. Its slow action with water can produce magnesium hydroxide. It can be dissolved in carbon dioxide aqueous solution to produce magnesium bicarbonate. In the air, it can gradually absorb moisture and carbon dioxide. Heating releases irritating fumes. Magnesite (MgCO3), dolomite (MgCO3 • CaCO3) and seawater are the main raw materials for the production of magnesium oxide.
Magnesium oxide is divided into two kinds of light magnesium oxide and heavy magnesium oxide. Light magnesium oxide is lax in volume, white amorphous powder. Odorless, tasteless and non-toxic. Density 3.58g/cm3. insoluble in pure water and organic solvent. Heavy magnesium oxide volume is compact, white or beige powder. The developed fine magnesium oxide is mainly used for high grade lubricant, high grade tanning leather lifting alkali grade, food grade, medicine, silicon steel grade, high grade electromagnetic grade, high purity magnesium oxide and nearly ten varieties of composition.
Magnesium oxide usage:
1, one of the main uses of magnesium oxide is used as a flame retardant, traditional flame retardant materials, widely used halogen-containing polymers or halogen-containing flame retardants combined into a flame retardant mixture.
2, another use of magnesium oxide can be used as a neutralizing agent, magnesium oxide alkaline, good adsorption performance, can be used as acid waste gas, wastewater treatment, heavy metals and organic waste treatment and other neutralizing agent, with the environmental requirements, the domestic demand is growing rapidly.
3, the pressure of fine magnesium oxide can be used as optical coatings. Coating thickness between 300nm and 7mm, the coating is transparent. 1mm thick coating refractive index of 1.72.
4, used for climbing stone use, can absorb hand sweat, (Note: inhalation of magnesium oxide smoke can lead to metal smog disease.)
5, mainly used for the preparation of internal pharmaceutical agents to neutralize excess stomach acid. Commonly used preparations are: magnesium milk - emulsion; magnesium cover tablets - each piece contains MgO0.1g,; acid making scatter - magnesium oxide and sodium bicarbonate mixed into the bulk, etc.
